Symptoms of dehydration:
  • flushed face
  • dry, warm skin
  • dizziness made worse when you are standing
  • weakness
  • cramping in the arms and legs
  • soreness in the joints
  • sleepy or irritable
  • fatigue
  • headaches
Why am I telling you this, you may ask? Because I, sadly, have been suffering the effects of dehydration. In fact, I have had to call in sick again. Can you IMAGINE?! Me, calling in sick... more than once?! Shit. But the fact of the matter is that 35degrees and burning hot outside to 40degrees and yoga inside is not a good way for a human being to be existing. Friday's three hot classes in a row seemed to have officially kicked my ass. Of course, I couldn't figure out why I was SO TIRED, why my muscles were so damned sore and why my head kept hurting. Then Ryan brilliantly suggested that I was dehydrated... I looked it up on the trusty google.com and voila! There was my answer. Drink more fluids stupid. So now I have resigned myself to no caffeine and lots of water. The soy latte that I had today does not count. No, I said it DOESN'T count. Shhhhh... it'll break my heart.

I wanted to have more pictures for you. Not of me being dehydrated, but of summertime in Taiwan. This will be my project for the coming week.

WARNING: This story does not depict actual events. Any similarity to real events or people, is merely coincidental. This is pure fiction.

Karuna taught at a yoga studio. Karuna's fellow teachers were a bit upset because the studio was hiring untrained people to teach classes. Karuna took it upon herself to email the studio owner and let him know that people were upset and that it was, quite possibly, an unskilled decision. She also emailed her teachers from home, asking for advice. Feathers were ruffled, emails exchanged. Karuna was called into a meeting with the owner, we may call him Mushroom. Many words were spoken, many topics discussed. Points of discussion that remained with Karuna: that if the studio was concerned about hiring advanced teachers, she would not be there; and untrained yoga practitioners know more about human anatomy than those that have completed her teacher training. Karuna was left heartbroken and disconcerted. She debated finding a new job, moving back to Tor... er... Timbuktu, she even began to doubt whether she was qualified enough to be teaching yoga. To counter the self-doubt that she was developing, she also began to have waves of unhealthy dislike for Mushroom. Life was in turmoil for Karuna. How would events unfold? Would Karuna find new employment? Relocate to Tibuktu? Or resolve her inner turmoil? To be continued...

Hope you enjoyed my completely fictional story (hmmm?). Other points of interest, Ryan is going to Hong Kong rather than Korea. Decisions have been made. And that is pretty much that. Oh, except for the fact that I desperately need to call my Momz. I am a bad bad daughter. And I miss talking to Alison. Tsk tsk to both of us for not being online! word. -n.
