If you could do anything right now, what would it be?
I just had that thought. Then I thought: I'd fast forward life to our trip to Thailand. Isn't that odd? Made me think of that Adam Sandler movie Click. Man that movie made me cry. Have you seen it? The ol' Sandler gets a freaky remote control that can fast forward through all the "boring parts" of life to get to the juicy details... but then he ends up missing everything. Everything, of course, being his life in general. Hmmmm... *ponder ponder*
So anyways... back to my original thought. If you could do ANYTHING, what would it be? You can make me a list. More than one 'anything' is definately acceptable. Think of this question as the "what do you wanna be when you grow up?" but for adults...
My favorite thing to do is to ponder all of the exciting possibilities. My least favorite thing to do is wait for those possibilities to unfold. Hmmm... how to foster the quality of patience? I vote that instead of fostering patience, I work on humor... by laughing... now. Ah ha haaa... [insert silly smile here].
I was just working on the karma yoga chapter in my Yoga History & Philosophy binder. In the section "for reflection", it asked me what type of work I found the most fulfilling. My answer: hard work, organizing, building, creating, cleaning, accomplishing a task with a visible end.
The ideal [wo]man is he who, in the midst of the greatest silence and solitude, finds the instensest activity, and in the midst of the instensest activity finds the silence and solitude of the desert. He has learnt the secret of restraint, he has controlled himself. He goes through the streets of a big city with all its traffic, and his mind is as calm as if he were in a cave, where not a sound could reach him; and he is intensely working all the time. That is the ideal of karma yoga, and if you attained that, you have really learnt the secret of work. - Swami Vivekananda
Now I've moved on to mantra-yoga. I'll keep ya' posted if I come across anything interesting. Oh, and in honor of 'Heroes' (the show Rybo's been downloading)...
To be continued...
