Time: 8:21am
What: 25 minutes asana / 20 minutes seated practice
Focus: Second Foundation / Exercises 5 - 8 (Ana-)
Gooooooooood morning! I have come to really appreciate the quiet contemplative time in the morning. The rest of my day is go-go-go and this time is when I am awake, bright-eyed, alone, mindful, and able to dedicate myself to my (second) love.
Practiced some Surya Namaskar "with" Richard Freeman and followed that up with some yin postures (practicing my sequence for this evening). Jumped out of seated practice briefly to write down some inspiration for an upcoming Punk Rock Yoga class. Odd to stop meditating to record an idea... But I felt that (this time) it was important to do. Entire seated practice was filled with thoughts of sequencing, intentions, wording, etc. Moments of "Oh yes... breath".
Chose brushing my teeth as my second micro-practice. I wonder if choosing morning activities as micro-practices means I'll need to get up earlier... TBD.
I've decided I'm going to read Chip Hartranft's Yoga Sutras on the streetcar this morning. Taking a day off from David Suzuki's "From Naked Ape to Superspecies"... Oh vey genetic engineering...
