Hmmm...
To be honest I don't think I've been leaving the apartment except to teach yoga. I wonder how interesting I can make a blog based on that knowledge...
hmmm...
It turned out that Ryan and I had to go to Hong Kong for visa matters. It was quite last minute. We found out Tuesday night that we were going on Thursday. Definately not enough time for a Virgo like me to plan a day in Hong Kong... so we decided to just go to the airport, turn around and then return. It went smoothly. Rocita (cutie that works in the SPACE office) prepared the tickets, a car to take us to and from the airport, and prepared a letter in case there were difficulties with renewing the visitor visa. There wasn't. Thank you God!
Jonny leaves tomorrow. He's been Ryan's buddy since we got here... but, alas, Ryan will have to find a new buddy... or get a job. Ah ha haaa... I joke. We had a going-away gathering at SPACE last night. Movie night. Let me tell you... SPACE does not do things small. A large projector and screen were rented, tons of pizza, salad, beverages, snacks... plus huge yoga pillows and blankets. It was quite nice. Though it's hard to get a group of yogi's to stay out later than midnight. Lesson learned.
In other news... I was contacted by an aquaintance that I made on Myspace about Geshe Michael Roach and Christie McNally(GMC) touring in Taiwan and China. Their bios read:
Geshe Michael Roach is the first American to complete the 20-year course in a traditional Tibetan monastery and earn the title of "Geshe", or Master of Buddhism. Along with founding and guiding the Yoga Studies Institute, Geshe Michael is the founder of ACIP, which is probably the world's largest database of ancient Asian manuscripts, and of the Diamond Mountain University and Retreat Center. Geshe Michael is the author of several books including "The Tibetan Book of Yoga" and "The Diamond Cutter". He is a translator of Sanskrit and Tibetan and recently completed a 3-year isolated meditation retreat in the Arizona desert.
Christie McNally has studied yoga from some of the world's most renowned masters, and has trained in several major Tibetan monasteries. She is a Tibetan and Sanskrit translator and textual expert with the Asian Classics Input Project, and recently completed a 3-year deep retreat in the Arizona desert.
So it turns out that GMC will be coming to SPACE. If I can organize it in a prompt manner, of course. I am skeptical about my abilities to actually organize this event... it makes me a tad bit nervous. Especially with less than a month and no appearance of progress being made. I suppose I will just trust in the fates and see what happens.
Mostly that is all at the moment. Taipei becomes more and more home by the minute. I am getting more comfortable here... regularity and routines are unfolding. I think I might be making some friends... or at least have identified some folks with friend potential. Non-yoga teacher type people. Shocking!
Oh, and I think I may figure out how to get a new tattoo. You just shook your head, didn't you? Nevermind that. Now I am off... I have a day to enjoy. Keep in touch, friends. xx. -n.
