Morning chores and early morning teaching did not leave room for morning practice today. Instead, I set up mat and cushion in the second practice room during the noon class. Different quality of mind in the afternoon (and at work?) - planning, planning, busy, busy. As bustling as the sounds of traffic floating in through the open window...
Side effect of using a blackberry as one's timer/alarm: immediately seeing new emails post-meditation. Distraction? Or way to mindfully check your email? ;)

Focus: Awareness at belly - "Rising/Falling"
Another side effect to using a blackberry as a timer: you hear the bing-bong of receiving a text message (not so helpful). The theme of this evening's sit: overwhelmed. Overwhelmed at work, at home, by fruit flies, by the need to clean my floor (which I look at while sitting), by time... Mind was aflutter. Background awareness of breath, with the foreground awareness of fast-moving thoughts and a Santogold song. Every once in awhile rising rising falling falling...
