Time: 7:53am
What: 25 minutes asana / 20 minutes seated practice
Focus: First Foundation / Exercise 7 - 8 (Sati-)

Practicing first thing in the morning (still in my pajamas) is an interesting experience. Body is stiff from stillness and sleep. Movement is dramatically different from movement done later in the day and/or in a heated practice environment. Back chain of the body short and achy. I like it. Exploring a different body. Brings awareness to parts of the body that would otherwise be overlooked. Changes the dynamic and alignment in postures.

Seated practice... Breath awareness. Body scan. Toe to head to toe again. Included blood, excrement, bile, intestines, stomach, diaphragm, lungs, kidneys, skin, hair, pores, finger- and toe-nails, etc. All the "yucky" parts (ha ha). Inhale, exhale - aware of [insert name here]. Again, body scan naturally progressed into awareness or identification of the elements as making up the body. Inhale, exhale - aware of the water element. Feel water element in various parts of the body. Inhale, exhale - aware of the water element. Feel. Inhale, exhale - aware of the water element. Feel. And onward...
