What: 25 minutes asana / 5 minutes seated practice
Focus: Second Foundation / Exercises 11 - 12 (Sati-)
"Ugh" aptly describes the experience of this morning. Crisp and cold outside. Feeling of Autumn and the changing of seasons. Inside is heavy and overheated. Dryness in breath and body. Feeling of laziness, muddiness, apathy. Moisturized face and legs (in response to the dryness) before practice. Ever do that? Slippery slick hands presented a slight obstacle to Sun Salutations. Sequence turned into floor postures and then restorative. Set-up for seated practice without really wanting to... Internal resistance. Sat for 5 minutes and then chose to get off the cushion. Will return again later (if not today, then tomorrow).
Have noticed that I go almost entire subway rides without even hearing the chimes (bell of mindfulness). Interesting what we tune into and tune out...

Years ago, I began to do ayurvedic oil massage in the morning. I did it once before (astanga) asana practice, and laughed at how impossible it was to do my jumps and the binds!!!! Really funny! Learned my lesson....
As for taking a day off now and then... even THAT is part of the practice...
