Time: 8:30am
What: 15 minutes seated practice
Focus: Awareness at belly - "Rising/Falling
When given a choice between focusing on breath at the belly or nostrils, I have always chosen nostrils. Emphasis on breath at the belly is a new practice for me. I found much tension in breathing. There was a disconnect between the words "rising / falling" and the experience of breath. This disconnect led to a brief struggle to control the movement of the breath and belly. After noting the struggle, it dropped away. Concentration was steady (like waves of focus) until mid-way through the set time. Mind meandered off and was brought back to the breath by the ringing of the bell (go "chi-gong" cellphone alarm!).
Time: 4:25pm
What: 20 minutes asana / 10 minutes seated practice
Focus: Awareness at belly - "Rising/Falling
Fatigue was the unintentional theme of practice. Yawning, watery eyes, heavy eyelids. Decided to place hand on abdomen to connect with the feeling of breath at the belly. Was able to find the subtle movement of breath, yet unconsciously dropped the words "rising/falling".
