Time: 8:32am
What: 25 minutes asana / 20 minutes seated practice
Focus: Second Foundation / Exercises 11 - 12 (Sati-)

Working with exercises 11 & 12 of the Satipatthana Sutta. Aware of pleasant, unpleasant, and neutral feelings.

If we call a pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral feeling by its name, we identify it clearly and recognize it more deeply. Our attitude of not clinging to or rejecting our feelings is the attitude of letting go...
- "Transformation & Healing" Thich Nhat Hahn

Seeing the roots of feelings - body & mind or physical, physiological, & psychological. Looking deeply into experience to see past the initial feeling and/or ideas (i.e. finding a drink of whiskey pleasurable - looking into the effects of whiskey on the body, on the Earth, on the population - looking at the psychological roots of finding whiskey enjoyable, etc).

First day of sitting with new exercises and new ideas is always a bit confusing. Morning brain couldn't decipher the difference between physical and physiological. Sitting was the usual blend of peaceful with moments of tired, discomfort, impatience, thinking, etc. Happy to be where I am. Happy to be aware of experience.
