Stayed up past my bedtime last night. Multi-tasking. One part waiting for Sandi to get home from karaoke, and one part completing our third project. Interesting to be sitting on the floor, blurry-eyed, feeling a little bit sick, and typing out the instructions for a yoga class following the second foundation of mindfulness.
Not enough sleep mixed with the continued brawl with sickness (oh yes, I'm fighting that sick off... you watch out!) equaled sleeping through the alarm over and over and over (and over) again this morning. Had half an hour to get ready, have some nourishment, and get out the door for work.
Plugged headphones into my ears and started making the trek down the hill to the gravel path. Part way down the hill, I realized I didn't want music blasting in my ears and I removed my headphones. Chose to do walking meditation in lieu of formal practice. Little bit of mindfulness on my excursion to work...
Paying attention to breath, to the feet on the gravel, the rhythm of breathing in time with the rhythm of walking (or vice verse). Feeling the crispness of the air against the exposed bits of skin. Feeling the wooliness of the sweater... the warmth of the scarf... Hearing the scurry and scuffle of squirrels and birds, passing joggers, cyclists. Seeing the leaves starting to turn colours. Dry leaves crunching on the ground underfoot. Aware of the change of breath and pace as I climb the path upward...
Time: 9:37am
What: 15 minutes walking meditation
