Can buy you many things in Thailand. That is my experience so far. A meal. An hour and 40 minutes on the internet. A beach hut that fits a double bed, where you can see the sand through the slats in the floor (shared squat toilet included!). That is where we are right now. Nighttime on the beach. Folks sitting around a common area having tropical type drinks and playing card games or reading books on loan. Family-owned. Comfortable. Easy life.
We have gone from Big Buddha to Chaloklum to Ban tai. Ko Samui to Ko Phangan. Another night here, lounging on the beach, then it's back to Haad Rin to take the ferry to Samui. We catch a flight to Bangkok on the morning of the 17th. Modes of transportation have included bus, big plane, smaller plane, mini-bus(van), tumultuous ferry, songthaew (truck with seats in the back), elephant, jeep, feet. Exciting stuff right there.
Note to everyone: squat toilets are not particularly pleasant. To me. I always seem to manage to pee on my foot. One foot if I'm lucky. Both feet if it's not going particularly well. Hilarious stuff right there. I wonder what will happen when I have to use the toilet in the dark. Hmmmm... funny.

NEXT DAY: I have mastered the squaters. I realized, last night, upon further reflection that peeing on ones foot could be considered too much information. But 'tough titties' is my reply (as well as a phrase that I would like to wear on a t-shirt *nod*).
It rained nice and loud, windy, with thunder and lightening last night. The rain water dripped through our ceiling, right through the slats on the floor, back out onto the sand. Made me smile. We had an old mommy dog sleeping on our little front deck.
Today is a day of reflection and instrospection. Inspired by the rainy day and the folks huddled (so to speak) in the common area. Ryan and I have managed to read three books each, since arriving in Thailand. No tv + no radio equals much quality time and reading. My choices = biography of Buddha and "What the Buddha Taught". I have spent the morning comparing Buddha's Eightfold Path to the Yoga Sutras Eight limbs of yoga. Sounds like me, doesn't it.
Oh my Buddha! :)
That's enough of that.Talk to you soon.lovelovehugsxx. -n.
